Call for Participation

This workshop sets out to bring researchers across the Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and Design fields that use, or are interested in using Research through Design (RtD) in their work. In particular, we aim to provide the venue to discuss the potential perspectives and contributions that can be brought to the HRI field by applying Research through Design approaches. To this end, we strongly encourage submissions from researchers, designers, and artists that work at the intersection of Human-Robot Interaction studies and Design Research.

Topics include but are not limited to:

  • Case-studies of Research through Design in HRI
  • Research through Design approaches and methods adapted to HRI
  • Design and prototyping of robotic artifacts
  • Case-studies of robot, agent or chatbot design, or design of interactions with them
  • Position papers on methods, tools and techniques in HRI

Authors are invited to prepare a position paper (2-3 pages including references, double column) using the ACM SIG conference format, and submit via email at:

Participants’ contributions will be published on our website. A joint publication may emerge as a report of the workshop outcomes.
